Moving Goods in the New Economy:
A Primer for Urban Decision Makers
G. Miller, D.Kiguel, S. Zielinski, 2002
This primer, the first ever to deal with the vital subject of urban goods movement, is the result of a collaboration between Moving the Economy and the Canadian Urban Institute. It is aimed at making the urban goods movement connection in this critical time in the life of Canadian cities. It originated in a series of three workshops organized by MTE, and compiles the proceedings of these workshops with additional research conducted by CUI.
This unique document demonstrates how much there is to understand about goods movement in cities, and how vital it is that progress be made on this front if cities are to remain competitive in terms of their regional economies as well as quality of life and environmental issues. Also presented are living examples of how some industries and cities are evolving new systems, technologies, and approaches to meet these emerging economic, social and environmental challenges.
